Taste of Summer at Babylonstoren
As the hazy days of late summer unfold at Babylonstoren, the air becomes infused with the irresistible scent of ripe and jammy figs. Varieties in the garden include Black Mission, Adam, Eva and Cape Black. Some fruits are yellow or green, while others are black or brown.
When you stroll around these trees in the garden and can no longer resist the temptation, find a soft-bellied, ripe fig to sink your teeth into. You’ll know it’s ready to enjoy when you give it a gentle pull, and it easily peels away at the stem. Alternatively, you can sample the cream of the fig crop at Babel Restaurant in a light dessert with water buffalo gelato and a glass of frosty rosé, or join the Fabulous Figs and Gelato workshop on 29 February.
