Geliefde musikante se talentklanke gaan weer beïndruk
Die Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM) speel gasheer vir ʼn rits klassieke musieksterre wat gaste weereens met ongelooflike weergawes van klassieke en moderne klassieke musiek op Saterdag, 11 Desember 2021, gaan vermaak.
‘Klassiek Piekniek’ is die perfekte kans om op die lowergroen grasperke van die monument skoene uit te skop, ʼn piekniek met vriende en familie te hou en deur die harmonieuse klanke meegevoer te word terwyl die son agter die ikoniese monument wegsmelt. Dit sal deur die Kaapstadse Operakoorlede Christine Bam, Ernestine Stuurman, Marvin Kernelle, Siphesihle Mdena en Dane Coetzee uitgevoer word.
Bam is ‘n mezzosopraan wat plaaslik en internasionaal opgetree het as deel van produksies soos Porgy and Bess, La Bohème, Grace Notes, African Angels en Così fan tutte. Stuurman is ‘n liriese sopraan wat die rolle vertolk het van Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Maria in West Side Story en Strawberry Woman in Porgy and Bess. Sy tree plaaslik en internasionaal op. Kernelle, die koormeester van die Kaapstadse Operakoor, was die koormeester en assistent-dirigent vir plaaslike en internasionale produksies van onder meer Carmen, Mandela Trilogy, Le Nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, Maria Stuarda, La Traviata en Die Vlieënde Hollander. Mdena is ‘n tenoor wat ‘n aantal rolle in verskillende operas vertolk het, waaronder Così fan tutte, L’elisir d’amore, plaaslik en internasionaal. Coetzee het tjello aan die universiteite van Kaapstad en Stellenbosch studeer, en al opgetree by konserte en feeste in Afrika, die Amerikas, Asië en Midde-Ooste.
Die vertoning begin om 19:00, en gaste is welkom om hul eie piekniekmandjies en drankies (geen glas) mee te bring. Trek warm aan en bring ‘n flits asook ‘n masker saam. Sien www.taalmuseum.co.za/covid-19/ vir die spesifieke protokolle.
Toegang is slegs R100 per volwassene en R80 vir pensioenarisse en kinders – kaartjies is beskikbaar by Computicket en, indien daar nog oor is, by die hek op die dag self vanaf 17:00. Jaarpermitte (tot 30 November teen 20%-afslag beskikbaar) kos R120 vir individue of R220 per gesin, wat toegang tot alle Volmaanpieknieks insluit.

Beloved musicians’ talented sounds will delight once again
The Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM) plays host to a group of classical music stars who will once again entertain guests on Saturday, 11 December 2021, with amazing versions of classical and modern classical music.
‘Classic Picnic’ is the perfect opportunity to kick off the shoes on the lush green lawns of the monument, have a picnic with friends and family, and be carried away by the harmonious sounds while the sun melts away behind the iconic monument. The music will be performed by Cape Town Opera Chorus members Christine Bam, Ernestine Stuurman, Marvin Kernelle, Siphesihle Mdena and Dane Coetzee.
Bam is a mezzo-soprano who has performed locally and internationally with productions including Porgy and Bess, La Bohème, Grace Notes, African Angels and Così fan tutte. Stuurman is a lyrical soprano who has performed the roles of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Maria in West Side Story and Strawberry Woman in Porgy and Bess. She performs locally and internationally. Kernelle, the chorus master of Cape Town Opera Chorus, has been chorus master and assistant conductor for local and international productions of amongst others Carmen, Mandela Trilogy, Le Nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, Maria Stuarda, La Traviata and The Flying Dutchman. Mdena is a tenor who has performed a number of roles in various operas including Così fan tutte and L’elisir d’amore, locally and internationally. Coetzee studied cello at the universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch, and has performed at concerts and festivals in Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East.
The show starts at 19:00, and guests are welcome to bring their own picnics and drinks (no glass). Dress warmly and bring a torch, and a mask. See www.taalmuseum.co.za/covid-19/ for the specific protocols.
Entry is only R100 per adult and R80 for pensioners and children – tickets are available from Computicket and, if there are any left, from 17:00 at the gate on the day itself. Annual permits are available at R120 for individuals or R220 per family (offered at a 20%-discount until 30 November 2021), which includes access to all Full Moon Picnics.
