Ashia Cheetah Conservation is a world-class cheetah sanctuary and working farm outside Paarl in South Africa’s Western Cape, a mere 45-minute drive from Cape Town. An African name meaning ‘life and hope’, Ashia lies nestled at the foot of the dramatic Drakenstein mountains, providing the perfect setting for the sanctuary’s conservation and environmental education programmes.

Founded to help to prevent the further decline of the cheetah population, Ashia supports conservation initiatives through its efforts to release captive-bred cheetahs back into a protected wild. Ashia’s Cheetah Release Programme is financed and managed by Ashia Cheetah Conservation, a registered non-profit company. Ashia also offers the opportunity to contribute in aiding conservation initiatives through its volunteer programmes, working holidays and research/ internship programmes.

Ashia offers small groups of visitors to the farm the opportunity to come and learn more about the cheetah, why it is endangered and the efforts conservationists are making to assist the future of this vulnerable animal.

Guests have the opportunity to participate in cheetah experiences, weekly cheetah runs, private cheetah runs, cheetah walks, volunteer for a day, and farm tours.
