There is so much to see and do at Babylonstoren – a deluxe working farm just outside Paarl. It is the perfect place to relax and a fabulous base from which to explore the rest of the Cape Winelands. The farm is spread over 200 hectares where you can enjoy guided walks around the grounds or simply stroll at your leisure.
SMELL THE ROSES
This time of the year, the sweet aroma of their rose towers in bloom permeates the garden. They have about 50 towers, most of them covered in antique climbing roses ranging in colours from soft pinks to pearly whites.
Among these are the Madame Alfred Carrière, Lamarque, Souvenir de la Malmaison and many more! At Babylonstoren, they simply cannot imagine their garden without their roses. Do make a point stopping to smell these exquisite beauties as you take a leisurely stroll.
BONSAI DISPLAY IN PUFF ADDER
Take a walk through Babylonstoren’s sun-dappled Puff Adder where they’re housing age-old bonsai trees – some over 120 years old! This display will be on until the end of December.
Did you know? South Africa has a rich bonsai tradition and is one of the first countries outside the East to start growing bonsai with local species. South African bonsai experts have even developed their own style that is recognised abroad.
