BONSAI DISPLAY IN PUFF ADDER
Take a walk through their sun-dappled Puff Adder where they’re housing age-old bonsai trees – some over 120 years old! This will be 0n display until the end of December.
Did you know? South Africa has a rich bonsai tradition and is one of the first countries outside the East to start growing bonsai with local species. South African bonsai experts have even developed their own style that is recognised abroad.
LAVENDER
During the summer months at Babylonstoren, their lavender fields become vibrant with the colour purple, filling the air with their distinctive sweet floral scent. Around Christmas time they harvest these flowers to distil essential oils right there on the farm. Pop into the Scented Room and find something special to add to your bath time ritual.
SUMMER FRUITS: STONEFRUIT & BERRIES
The summer fruits are starting to ripen, and their farm is celebrating the sunny festive season.
Stone Fruit: Mid-November they harvested the first of their juicy and delicious plums, African Rose and Suplum, to kick off the stone fruit season.
On the farm, they grow 11 varieties in the orchards that they’ll harvest from now until early in 2022. Take a walk along the crunchy peach pip paths all the way to their stone fruit block or help yourself to one when visiting the Greenhouse Restaurant.
Berries: In the next few weeks, visit their berry block in the garden for a berrylicious time! Rasberries and Blackberries, bursting with flavour ready to be tasted.
